In 1999, Chester Cathedral Choir recorded a CD called Sing For Joy, on which was "Millennium Hymn".
I emailed David Poulter, the Director of Music at Chester to see if I could obtain a copy of the music, but he was unable to help as it was no longer in his files.
Can anyone here tell me where I can get a copy of the music, or alternatively who publishes the work?
I guess there were many millennium hymns written around that time, some 444 for the competition at St.Paul's Cathedral alone! But it is the Chester one that I'm particularly after.

I've got copies of 'The Millenium Hymn', words by Hilary Jolly and music by Paul Bryan. The tunes called 'St Paul's Cathedral' Words begin 'Through the darkness of the ages, through the sorrows of the days ...............'

Is this the one you mean?

No it's not. The one I want starts with men in unison singing "In the beginning, God created the Earth........" followed by the full choir singing"And as six days had gone, God rested..."
I suspect it may have been composed / arranged by Christopher Norton as many of the other works on the disc are his. But many thanks, Nigel, for your suggestion.

The one I quoted was ih the Diocese of Bath & Wells Festival Book for 2000 so may have been commissioned for that book. I'll keep an eye out for the Chester version - my bro-in-law lives in that area.

Regards,

Nigel
