Hi
We are looking for a small supply for the above hymn book (full harmony edition).
Perhaps if somewhere has updated to a newer hymnal, they may have a surplus supply?
Thanks

If you are offered more books than you require I am in need of c24 SATB for use at weddings.
Thank you |

WE have about 500 copies of A and M new standard if anyone wants them. There are about 30 full music, 50 words only and the rest are melody copies - 50 of the melody copies were brand new 3 years ago, the rest are about 15-20 years old, most are still useable. |

Hi
following our conversation this morning we could certainly use some copies (say, up to 300, +5 SATB copies) in our churches if still available.
If Neil in Edinburgh is still after copies, I could possibly get them up to the Carlisle area for him, if he could collect from there?
I don't know where Mirian is - but if she is north-ish, could possibly help ditto. |

I would be extremely grateful if you would allow me to have some copies in SATB form. Please PM me for details of costs and P&P.
Thankyou very much. |

Hi all
I would certainly like some SATB if still available - c. 10 copies. Please get in touch - webmaster@thechoir.co.uk.
I will speak with the Organist (who has tasked me with finding the books!) and we can negotiate etc.
Many thanks and Merry Xmas!
Neil
PS - Yes, Carlisle would certainly be a huge help! |

I can certainly help out here. I don't seem to bre able to PM people - i expect its my ineptness.
If you want to confirm the copies that your require, please email me at:
music@wrekincollege.ac.uk
I will sort out the best- though they have all had heavy use for 15 years! |

Question to all:
Why is it that most of the hymn books used in services only contain the words without even a melodic line to follow? I'm a pretty good sight-singer, but if I am not familiar with the hymn, having the words only is of little help.
I cannot believe ultimately it is very cost effective. |

In my opinion it is penny-pinching by non-musical purse-string holders that allows word only editions to exist. Just very occasionally I come across churches with a full set of melody editions.

I agree that it is helpful for the congregation to have melody editions, but the price is such that not many churches will pay for them.
Something else which annoys me is that a certain publisher of excellent hymnals fails to produce a melody edition at all for most of their popular Anglican range. This means that our meagre music budget (my honararium!) has to pay for full music editions for sopranos and trebles who don't need it. Moreover, the full music copies are too heavy for the children to hold.
I've asked the publisher about this, but have not received a satisfactory reply - they just say 'there's no demand'.

Hereford Cathedral, bless them, use a melody edition. |
