Can someone please tell me the approximate date in 2009 when most of the UK Cathedral and Collegiate Choirs return from their Summer Holidays?

Cathedrals will probably be some time in September.
Oxbridge colleges probably not until October (look up the dates of full term-not university term-on the university websites).
