I love this man's music so much. Find me a better setting of the canticles than
Ireland in F
, but have you folks heard his divine piano concerto?
It is so beautifully written, such a warm-hearted piece, I don't think there is a greater British piano concerto. Any comments? |

Not familiar with his Piano Concerto, but love his songs such as Sea Fever, The Vagabond, The Bells of San Marie.
Canticles in F are matched by his wonderful Communion setting in C

And of course there is also "Greater love". The whole anthem is great, but that first section.
Many waters cannot quench love,
neither can the floods drown it.
Love is strong as death.
Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Getting the "death" and "Greater" chords right can be a challenge...
John. |
