I have my preferred settings, as I'm sure others do. Admittedly, stops with the same name do not give the same effect on every organ, but, given a multi-level capture system with a free channel, I tend to set up my own when playing a strange instrument.

I would be interested to know what other people's preferences are.

Let's take a hypothetical 3 manual, Great chorus from 16' to Mixture and an 8' reed; Swell with reeds at 16, 8,8 & 4; choir with mutations and mixture and solo reeds; pedal from flue 32' to 16' reed. 6 pistons to each division plus 6 generals.

Since I only substitute, I don't dare change any pistons... I've gotten into trouble in the past for that! However, I must say, some of the piston settings I've run across are dodgy to say the least.

Hey, I just hit 500 posts! Razz

My mother's beloved BMW? She would have my a** in a sling! Embarassed

Only the picket fence surrounding the Elgar birthplace, oops it's more high-tech these days. I wonder how long it took young Edward to walk into Worcester. I've done the three miles in about an hour... of course these days there is a bus, and very little mud, not mention the absence of the calling card of the horses. Laughing
