Do you know how serious the Llandaff organ problem is?

In case WC doesn't get to the computer soon, the Cathedral was struck by lightning, the electrics of the organ were amongst the worst affected, although a rebuild was in the pipeline anyway. I'll try and get an update from my parents (both members of the congregation at Llandaff), if WC doesn't come up with more info. _________________ --

What a shame it had to happen to the organ oh well these things do happen, I was in The Cathedral when David Thomas was giving a recital with the Cardiff Organ Association the organ sounded quite bad.
What Churches do nowadays is they replace organs with Electronics e.g Copeman Harts Makins ect. |

They have now apparently jury-rigged a single manual and pedal board, so i tis partially usable.
Rob, if you look at the links posted previously you will see that they are planning a new, real, organ. _________________ --

So long as the insurers don't decide it was an act of God... _________________ --

I would just like to say, that despite the problems with the organ, Llandaff cathedral choir absolutely rocks.
Ofcourse I'm not an official spokesperson for Llandaff ... _________________ There's more to life than Rutter |

Presumably, this was an 'act of the Divine Arsonist' rather than His humbler assistant, the Diocesan Arsonist But was the fire aided by the carpet in the loft which was, allegedly, installed by the Dean & Chapter after a certain Organist indicated when
he felt
that the sermon had reached its conclusion by dropping hymn books onto the floor of the loft.

I was surprised by WickedChorister's tag - There's more to life than
Christus factus est.
It certainly has to be one of the more beautiful chants of the Triduum as it expresses the depth of God's love for us. I'm not sure there's much more in life. |
