The Ardeton Organ in the gallery

The “Ardeton” is a Model Organ built by Rushworth & Dreaper Ltd. of Liverpool. Immediately this organ was seen and heard in the Cathedral a donor bought it and gave it to be used in the Lady Chapel Musicians' Gallery. Both its appearance and its performance are completely congruous with the lovely setting of the Lady Chapel. The compass of the Manual is CC to C — 61 notes. The compass of the Pedals is CCC to F — 30 notes.

	The pipework of this relatively small instrument has been scaled and voiced on classical tonal lines with functional appearance. The mechanism is electric, actuated from a transformer rectifying unit within the organ, as is also the blowing plant in a specially designed cabinet.
	Pedalboard is to RCO dimensions correctly related to the Manual.
